Bodyworker/Sobadora, Reiki healer

Full Spectrum doula

Mexican Traditional Healer

A.k.a Iris, is a Spanish/English speaking sobadora/bodyworker and birth doula, as well as a Reiki healer. She has practiced massage and bodywork since 2004 and has supported moms and families in the Austin area, as a birth doula, since 2009. Reiki has also been a part of her practice since 2010.

Her prenatal massage clients were inviting her to their births and introduced her to the birth world. Since the start of her practice, she has focused on the comfort of pregnant women and supporting them in their transformation into mothers and care takers .

She also volunteered for a local non profit doula group called GALS (Giving Austin labor support) for 7 years. She stared as a volunteer the became a coordinator between GALS and Any Baby Can. This is where she gained most of her birth experience. Iris is currently working with Mama Sana Vibrant Woman as a birth companion.

She has learned from many Native elders promoting Mexican Traditional Medicine who view birth as a ceremony.

Irasema uses a traditional Mexican tool called the Rebozo which can help with optimal fetal positioning and comfort during labor as well as in the postpartum period. She also teaches classes on using the Rebozo a self care tool.

Growing up she watched her maternal abuela (grandmother), Juana Solis Martinez, and her paternal tia  (aunt), Ma Ester Reza Gurrola, sobar people in their homes. Whether they were in Mexico or in the U.S. people were always seeking out their healing.

Irasema is deepening her spiritual practice through the Danza Azteca Mexica Chichimeca following the Ameyaltonal lineage from San Luis, Potosi with capitanes Mazatl and Marucha Ihuakatzin. Through these traditions, Irasema has learned to be aware of the earth' s vibration and it's elements. Furthering her connection to Divine Spirit.
